Intel NIC woes in the ESX world

E-mail Print PDF

Well... apparently Intel is no longer making the Intel VT gigabit NIC's :(

And they decided not to tell us until last week :)

We had 15 new ESX hosts come in the door, all sporting the brand new Intel 82576 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter... And all of the sudden our builds were failing :(

I took a quick check at the HCL and saw the 82576 is clearly supported, however it is NOT included in the 4.0 update 1 installation media :(

A quick Google search and it appears that quite a few other people are having the same exact issue!

A result that popped up was- http://patrickvanbeek.wordpress.com/2010/01/30/slipstreaming-drivers-in-the-esx4i-install-iso/

I'll be trying that on Monday to see if I can get it to work!

After looking this up 20 different times, I decided to add it to my blog so that I could find it back easily :)
